Principal HWIL Software Engineer

This engineer works within Raytheon’s multi-disciplinary Hardware-in-the-Loop organization, creating and maintaining simulator software used to evaluate missile systems before flight testing. Responsibilities span requirements analysis, C/C++ or Python development, real-time integration, build procedures, software quality practices, and model-based control design. The position also involves troubleshooting complex hardware and software interactions and coordinating with weapon-system designers and other engineering teams. It is suited to an experienced software professional who has worked with embedded or real-time systems, Agile development, and hardware-controlled test environments. The role is onsite in Tucson and requires U.S. citizenship along with an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain the required interim clearance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or STEM field with minimum 8 years of relevant experienceAdvanced proficiency in C++, Python, or other object-oriented languages with strong data structures and algorithms knowledgeDemonstrated expertise in embedded software, embedded operating systems (Linux, RTOS, VxWorks), or software architecture designActive and transferable Secret U.S. government security clearance required at startExperience with real-time software integration, Agile development lifecycle, and software requirements definitionU.S. citizenship required for security clearance eligibility
