Ph.D. Intern - Silicon Photonics & Optical Communications

This role places a doctoral researcher within Marvell’s optical engineering organization, working across silicon photonics, high-speed signal processing, and integrated optical transceiver development. Responsibilities may include modeling photonic components, developing PAM4 or coherent-link DSP, analyzing optical links, and testing designs with laboratory equipment. The intern will collaborate with analog, packaging, and systems engineers to connect photonic and electronic technologies into practical solutions for co-packaged, near-packaged, and data center optics. The program also includes technical presentations and a structured design curriculum. It is well suited to Ph.D. candidates with hands-on research experience who want to apply academic work to production silicon and large-scale AI infrastructure.
