Quantum Qubit Design Engineer

This engineer will help create the design methodologies, PDKs, standard cells, routing flows, and analysis tools needed to scale quantum processors to very large qubit counts. The work includes qubit and readout layout, automated placement and routing, crosstalk and signal-integrity optimization, design-rule validation, test-structure development, and coordination with fabrication, packaging, control, and software groups. The position sits within Intel’s Quantum Computing Group and also supports external users of Intel’s quantum design technology through tapeout and silicon execution. It suits an experienced engineer with a background in physics, electrical engineering, quantum technology, or a related discipline who enjoys hands-on experimentation, automation, cross-functional problem solving, and emerging semiconductor applications.

Requirements

Relevant bachelor's degree plus 4 years, master's plus 3 years, or Ph.D. in a related fieldAt least 1 year of experience in EM analysis, standard-cell or design automation, APR routing, foundry PDK tapeout, or PDK flow implementationExperience with DRC, ERC, LVS, PEX, or comparable design signoff processesStrong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently in a fast-changing research and development environmentPreferred: experience with qubits, cryogenics, RFICs, superconducting circuits, Python, machine learning routing, or EDA customization
