Senior Process Engineer - Industry Experience

This engineer will research and improve processes involving technologies such as ALD, PEALD, PECVD, epitaxy, oxidation, annealing, and curing. The position sits within ASM’s semiconductor process development function and requires close collaboration with customers, marketing, equipment teams, field service, and process technicians. Responsibilities include planning experiments, interpreting complex measurements, troubleshooting tools, integrating metal and dielectric films into device flows, and supporting customer demonstrations and technology transfers. The engineer may also lead technical projects, oversee budgets and schedules, publish findings, and provide limited supervision to technicians. It is well suited to an experienced semiconductor professional with a graduate degree and strong expertise in thin-film deposition, materials characterization, and experimental process optimization.

Requirements

Master’s or PhD in chemical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or a related fieldAt least 2 years of industry experience in thin-film deposition or semiconductor processingExperience with ALD, CVD, PECVD, epitaxy, oxidation, curing, or related processesProficiency with materials characterization methods such as XPS, SIMS, XRD, TEM, SEM, AFM, or ellipsometryAbility to manage complex process development projects using DOE, RSM, and scientific problem-solving methodsStrong technical communication skills and ability to work with customers and cross-functional teams
