Design Automation Engineer - Neuromorphic Computing

This engineer will advance the automation infrastructure behind Intel’s Loihi neuromorphic computing chips, supporting the full ASIC development lifecycle from front-end design through physical implementation and validation. The position involves building software, scripts, algorithms, utilities, and regression systems that improve the productivity and quality of RTL, verification, and physical design teams. It also includes creating simulation and FPGA-emulation frameworks that allow software development before hardware is available, along with tailoring synthesis and implementation tools for power and performance goals. The role is part of Intel’s Neuromorphic Computing Lab and suits an experienced silicon-design automation professional who is comfortable with both software development and semiconductor workflows. Candidates interested in asynchronous design, emerging AI hardware, large-scale emulation, and applying generative or agentic AI to engineering processes would be especially well aligned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years or master’s degree with 2+ years developing production-quality silicon design tools and flowsAt least 4 years working across ASIC tools such as synthesis, place and route, ATPG, formal or equivalence verification, STA, and LVS/DRCAt least 4 years using Perl, Tcl, Python, or comparable scripting languagesExperience delivering multiple silicon tape-outsStrong SystemVerilog, SystemC, or object-oriented programming skills preferredExperience with FPGA/emulation platforms and AI-assisted engineering tools preferred
