Principal Process Engineer

Based in Phoenix, this senior engineering role supports ASM’s semiconductor technology and product teams by creating and improving processes such as ALD, PEALD, epitaxy, PECVD, oxidation, annealing, and curing. The engineer plans complex experiments, applies DOE and statistical response methods, interprets process and materials data, and connects equipment behavior with device performance. The position also contributes to customer demonstrations, process integration, product transfer, technical documentation, and occasional field support involving travel of up to 10%. It includes mentoring engineers and may involve supervisory responsibility for technicians. This opportunity suits an experienced chemical, materials, electrical, or physical sciences professional who can independently lead development programs and communicate advanced technical findings to internal and external audiences.

Requirements

Master’s or PhD in chemical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or related field7+ years of combined education, research, and work experience in semiconductor processingExpertise in thin-film deposition, including ALD, CVD, epitaxy, PECVD, oxidation, or curingExperience with materials and electrical characterization techniquesAbility to lead complex process development projects, including experiments, schedules, resources, and budgetsStrong technical communication, problem-solving, mentoring, and customer consulting skills
