Senior Digital Hardware Designer

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS)Scottsdale, AZ

This position joins GDMS engineering teams that develop radar, communications, computing, and digital signal-processing hardware for national security customers. The designer will perform schematic capture, multilayer PCB development, signal-integrity analysis, and testing across systems using processors, microcontrollers, FPGAs, and SoCs. The role also involves technical leadership, mentoring, independent decision-making, and identifying opportunities to use AI for engineering improvement. Experience with Mentor tools, high-reliability or space hardware, and worst-case or stress analysis is advantageous. It suits an experienced electrical or hardware engineer who can work on complex classified programs and meet U.S. citizenship and security-clearance requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related STEM field, plus 8+ years of relevant experience, or a qualifying master’s degree with 6+ yearsU.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI clearanceExperience with schematic capture and multilayer PCB design, including controlled impedance and blind micro-viasAbility to analyze signal integrity, crosstalk, and related hardware performance issuesFamiliarity with microprocessors, microcontrollers, FPGAs, and system-on-chip devicesTechnical leadership or mentoring experience
