Principle Engineer - CAD (Physical Verification)

This position sits within Microchip’s CAD Engineering organization and supports the tools, methodologies, software, and infrastructure used across semiconductor design and verification. The engineer will shape CAD/EDA architectures, automate workflows, assess technical risks, and lead investigations and readiness reviews for critical solutions. Success requires close collaboration with design, verification, IT, infrastructure, manufacturing, vendors, and other partner groups. The role also involves establishing reusable standards, improving supportability and observability, and mentoring engineers through technical influence rather than direct management. It is well suited to an experienced semiconductor CAD, physical verification, software, scripting, or engineering-infrastructure professional who can make strategic decisions and communicate effectively across teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related field10+ years of relevant CAD/EDA, semiconductor design automation, software, scripting, verification, or infrastructure experienceExperience developing CAD/EDA architectures, methodologies, design flows, or engineering softwareBackground in physical verification, compute/grid infrastructure, validation, regression, debugging, or automationStrong analytical, strategic problem-solving, documentation, and technical communication skillsAbility to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering and business teams
