Senior Mechanical Engineer - Sustaining Products

This engineer will join Axon’s Sustaining Products function, which supports the quality and reliability of products already in use by first responders. Responsibilities include investigating failures, coordinating corrective actions and engineering changes, performing mechanical analyses, and guiding design updates through validation and production release. The position partners closely with quality, manufacturing, suppliers, operations, electrical engineering, and product teams, while maintaining drawings, specifications, and bills of materials. It suits an experienced product or sustaining engineer who is comfortable with electro-mechanical devices, high-volume manufacturing, and balancing reliability, cost, schedule, and customer impact. The role is based in Scottsdale, Arizona, or San Francisco, California.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceMinimum 7 years in product design or sustaining engineering (80%+ in sustaining: ECOs, RCAs, CAPAs, field failure analysis)Proficiency with Creo or similar 3D CAD software and knowledge of injection molding, stamping, die-cast, and machined partsExperience with waterproof design (IP ratings), PCB/PCBA integration, adhesives, and bonded joint design in production environmentsStrong DFM/DFA skills with GD&T proficiency and ability to balance quality, cost, schedule prioritiesExcellent cross-functional communication and experience with DFMEA/PFMEA processes
