The Senior Mechanical Engineer on the Sustaining Products team takes ownership of the engineering quality and reliability of Axon's deployed products in the field. Rather than developing new products, this role centers on investigating field failures, implementing corrective actions, managing product revisions, and working with manufacturing partners to resolve production issues and reduce costs. The engineer will apply expertise in mechanical design analysis, tolerance management, and failure investigation to solve real-world problems affecting first responders who depend on these safety-critical devices. This position suits someone with deep sustaining engineering experience who thrives on troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical products, enjoys cross-functional collaboration, and finds meaning in enhancing product reliability across high-volume manufacturing environments.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceMinimum 7 years in product design or sustaining engineering (80%+ in sustaining: ECOs, RCAs, CAPAs, field failure analysis)Proficiency with Creo or similar 3D CAD software and knowledge of injection molding, stamping, die-cast, and machined partsExperience with waterproof design (IP ratings), PCB/PCBA integration, adhesives, and bonded joint design in production environmentsStrong DFM/DFA skills with GD&T proficiency and ability to balance quality, cost, schedule prioritiesExcellent cross-functional communication and experience with DFMEA/PFMEA processes
