Senior Substation Engineer

This engineer will oversee the full lifecycle of substation projects delivered through EPC arrangements, from technical studies and equipment procurement through construction and commissioning. The position is part of QTS’s utility infrastructure and data center development function, working across internal teams and external utility and construction partners. Responsibilities include resolving technical and operational issues, managing execution risks, preparing project documentation, and improving delivery practices across the program. The role also provides guidance and training to less experienced engineers and field staff while ensuring compliance with applicable engineering, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. It is well suited to an experienced high-voltage substation professional who can lead complex projects, communicate effectively with varied stakeholders, and travel periodically to project sites.

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related fieldFE or EIT registrationAt least 10 years of substation engineering experienceProficiency with substation design softwareKnowledge of 15kV–500kV equipment and applicable IEEE, NESC, ANSI, and NEC standardsWillingness to travel up to 25%; PE license preferred
