This position supports the Electro-Optics Group within the Space Systems Launch Vehicles business in Chandler, Arizona. The engineer will guide the development of optical mounts, assemblies, and structures, using structural, thermal, optical, and line-of-sight analyses to validate performance under demanding flight conditions. Responsibilities include creating detailed CAD and drawing packages, supporting environmental testing, investigating hardware issues, and presenting technical conclusions during design reviews. The role requires close coordination with optical, systems, electrical, manufacturing, and program teams, as well as occasional customer interaction and travel. It is well suited to an experienced optomechanical professional with a current Secret clearance, strong precision-design expertise, and a background in aerospace, missile, seeker, or other high-reliability electro-optical systems.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of relevant experience, or equivalent advanced-degree experienceActive, current U.S. DoD Secret clearanceExtensive optomechanical or precision electro-mechanical design and integration experienceProficiency in structural and thermal analysis, including STOP/SILOS methods; ANSYS preferredAdvanced 3D CAD capability, preferably with Siemens NXStrong technical communication and presentation skills
