Open role
Principal Optical Engineer - 3
This engineer supports development and flight hardware by defining optical architectures, evaluating performance, managing error budgets, and allocating requirements across system, subsystem, and component levels. The work includes modeling visible through LWIR systems, assessing wavefront error, MTF, boresight, line-of-sight stability, tolerances, and structurally induced optical effects. The engineer partners with opto-mechanical, structural, thermal, systems, electrical, and manufacturing teams to create designs that can be built, aligned, tested, and qualified. Responsibilities also include CAD and documentation reviews, laboratory and environmental testing, design reviews, troubleshooting, and correlating test results with analysis. This position suits an experienced optical or optomechanical engineer who enjoys complex defense programs, hands-on hardware development, and technical leadership in a multidisciplinary environment.
