Arm is a semiconductor intellectual property supplier that, in its own words, licenses intellectual property to a network of partners that includes semiconductor and systems companies, and its Arizona presence is an office in Chandler that Arm's careers page, read in October 2026, describes as recently expanded and whose largest group is a CPU IP development team and which houses a post-silicon characterization lab. Arm was established in 1990 as a joint venture between Acorn Computers, Apple Computer and VLSI Technology. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market from 1998 until 2016, when it was taken private by SoftBank Group, and its American depositary shares began trading on Nasdaq under the ticker ARM on September 14, 2023. As of May 21, 2026, SoftBank Group beneficially owned approximately 86.4% of Arm's ordinary shares and is its parent company. Arm's global headquarters are in Cambridge, U.K., where it leases approximately 418,793 square feet of office space.

By its own description as a semiconductor intellectual property supplier, Arm works at the design stage of the chip supply chain. Its annual report for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026 says the company reorganized its business into three AI domains: Edge AI, serving smartphones and IoT; Physical AI, supporting automotive and robotics; and Cloud AI, addressing data center and networking. Arm says more than 350 billion Arm-based chips had been reported as shipped cumulatively worldwide as of March 31, 2026. In March 2026 Arm expanded its offerings to its first production silicon product, the Arm AGI CPU, which it describes as the first Arm-designed data center CPU, built for agentic AI infrastructure and developed with lead partner Meta. Arm claims the chip delivers more than 2x performance per rack compared with x86 platforms, and it names Cerebras, Cloudflare, F5, OpenAI, Positron, Rebellions, SAP and SK Telecom as further partners. Arm's release says TSMC manufactures the AGI CPU on its 3nm process, but the release does not say where the chip is made or name TSMC Arizona. Separately, on April 12, 2023, Intel Foundry Services and Arm announced a multigeneration agreement to let chip designers build low-power system-on-chips on the Intel 18A process; that release does not name Arizona or any specific fab. No later update on that agreement after April 2023 was found.

Arm's Arizona story begins in February 2016, when the company, then styled ARM Inc., leased 13,275 square feet for new Arizona operations at The Park at San Tan in Chandler, at 3075 W. Ray Rd. The space was meant to house approximately 60 employees, with occupancy planned for April 1; that was the lease's capacity, not a count of people hired, and no source found confirms the actual move-in date or gives a later Arizona headcount. Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny welcomed the company at the time, calling it "an exciting addition and natural fit to our growing tech base." Arizona AI found no city council action, incentive or development agreement for Arm [not independently verified]. Arm's office list today gives 3075 West Ray Road, Suite 500, Chandler, AZ 85226, its only Arizona office [not independently verified]. Arm's careers page says the office was recently expanded to accommodate a growing team and has over 16 conference rooms, but it gives no date or new size for the expansion.

Arm says the largest group in Chandler is its CPU team, which develops CPU IP for IoT, automotive, client and other markets, and that the office also houses members of the Systems IP, Central Technology and Business Development teams. According to Arm, the Solutions Engineering team in Chandler has expanded and established a fully functional lab for post-silicon characterization, the testing of chips after they are made. Arm says some Chandler groups offer a graduate rotation program in which newly joined graduate engineers take 3 separate engineering rotations during their first year. Arm does not say whether any Arizona team worked on the Arm AGI CPU.

Worldwide, Arm reported total revenue of $4,920 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, up $913 million, or 23%, from $4,007 million the year before. Arm is involved in pending litigation, including lawsuits with Qualcomm and Nuvia, as of its annual report for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, with no later status found, and Qualcomm accounted for 9% of Arm's total revenue in that fiscal year [not independently verified]. The annual report states no Arizona connection to that litigation and names no Arizona site, so Arizona AI does not attribute Arm's revenue or legal matters to Chandler. Taken together, the facts describe Arm's Arizona role as chip design and silicon testing in an office, not chip manufacturing: Arm's release says the AGI CPU is made by TSMC, and neither the AGI CPU release nor the Intel 18A announcement names an Arizona fab.
