Radiation Effects Engineer, Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff

This position sits within GDMS’s space systems engineering organization and focuses on ensuring spacecraft hardware and systems perform reliably under severe radiation conditions. The successful candidate will shape radiation-effects technologies, analysis methods, mitigation strategies, and engineering roadmaps while helping transition new capabilities into operational space products. They will also establish improved technical processes, collaborate with mission partners, and provide expert guidance across programs. The role is well suited to an accomplished electrical, materials, or physics engineer with extensive radiation-effects experience, strong systems thinking, and an interest in mentoring and innovation. U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph are required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related STEM field, or equivalent advanced education15+ years of relevant experience, or 13+ years with a master’s degreeExpertise in natural space radiation environments, modeling, and analysisExperience developing component- and system-level radiation mitigationAbility to obtain a DoD TS/SCI clearance with polygraph; U.S. citizenship requiredExperience integrating commercial technology into high-reliability space systems
