This engineer will support the Electro-Optics Group within the Space Systems Launch Vehicles business, developing reliable optomechanical hardware for demanding flight environments. Responsibilities include creating precision optical mounts and structures, performing structural and thermal analyses, building detailed CAD models and drawings, and evaluating line-of-sight stability and optical performance. The position works closely with optical, systems, electrical, manufacturing, and test teams to mature designs, investigate failures, and correlate analysis with vibration, shock, and thermal test results. It also involves leading or contributing to design reviews, technical presentations, error budgets, and root-cause investigations for prototype and production hardware. The role suits an experienced aerospace or defense engineer with deep optomechanical expertise, strong communication skills, and an active Secret clearance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience, or equivalent advanced-degree experienceActive, current U.S. DoD Secret clearanceExtensive optomechanical or precision electromechanical design and integration experienceKnowledge of structural, thermal, STOP, and SILOS analysis; ANSYS preferredProficiency with 3D CAD tools, preferably Siemens NXExperience with optical imaging systems, alignment, tolerance analysis, and industry standards
