Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems team is seeking an FPGA engineer to contribute to advanced electro-optical systems in Chandler, Arizona. The role involves assisting with HDL modules for I/O and image processing, creating and running verification environments, supporting FPGA integration, and maintaining technical documentation and bitstream configurations. The engineer will work under guidance while helping address design and integration issues across multiple engineering disciplines. This position suits someone early in their career with academic, internship, or project experience in FPGA or digital hardware development, especially using VHDL or Verilog and AMD Xilinx tools. Candidates should be interested in high-reliability defense systems and able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret clearance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field with 2 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degreeAbility to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret clearanceFPGA, SoC, or digital hardware experience through projects, coursework, internships, or co-ops; VHDL preferredExperience or familiarity with AMD Xilinx devices, Vivado, and FPGA design constraintsExposure to digital interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, AXI4, UART, or SDLCFamiliarity with simulation or hardware debugging tools, including Questa/ModelSim, logic analyzers, or oscilloscopes
