This position supports the Electro-Optics Group within Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Launch Vehicles business in Chandler, Arizona. The engineer will guide optomechanical design, CAD development, STOP and SILOS analysis, environmental testing, troubleshooting, and hardware improvement for imaging and sensing systems. The work is performed within a multidisciplinary seeker engineering team developing both prototype and flight-qualified equipment. Success requires strong technical judgment, the ability to communicate analysis and recommendations to program and customer leadership, and experience with precision systems exposed to vibration, thermal, shock, and other harsh conditions. It is well suited to an experienced mechanical, optical, or physics professional with defense-sector experience and an active Secret clearance.

Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience, or equivalent advanced-degree experienceActive, current U.S. DoD Secret clearanceExtensive optomechanical or precision electromechanical design and integration experienceExpertise in structural and thermal analysis, including STOP/SILOS conceptsProficiency with 3D CAD tools such as NX, Creo, or SolidWorksStrong technical communication and presentation skills
