Affordability Section Manager

This senior management position oversees Affordability professionals, including technical leads, cost modelers, subject matter experts, and support staff. The manager establishes the discipline’s strategy, strengthens its capabilities, and ensures consistent application of cost modeling, lifecycle analysis, and cost-reduction practices across programs. They work closely with engineering, program management, supply chain, operations, finance, customers, and senior leaders to incorporate cost considerations into system design, manufacturing, sustainment, reviews, and proposals. The role also includes workforce planning, recruiting, mentoring, performance management, process improvement, and escalation of execution risks or resource constraints. It is well suited to an experienced STEM or systems professional who has led technical organizations, managed complex cross-functional initiatives, and communicated cost and affordability recommendations to executives and customers.
