Engineer I- CAD (Software Development)

This role joins Microchip’s CAD team, which develops and maintains tools that enable hardware and SoC design teams to work efficiently. The engineer will help build design data management software, improve design methodologies, and create automation scripts, primarily with Python or similar languages. Responsibilities also include administering systems such as DesignSync and ICManage, maintaining existing tools, investigating software solutions, and preparing technical documentation. The position is well suited to a recent Computer or Electrical Engineering graduate with solid object-oriented programming fundamentals and an interest in applying software skills to electronic design. Strong communication, Linux command-line experience, and openness to learning new tools are important, while version control, database, and AI/ML knowledge are advantageous.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering or Electrical EngineeringFinal-year student or recent graduate with 0–3 years of experienceObject-oriented programming knowledge and proficiency in Python, Perl, or another languageFamiliarity with GNU/Linux commands and command-line toolsStrong verbal and written communication skillsInterest in EDA, design automation, and learning new development tools
