This leader sets the department’s strategy and manages engineering resources, staffing, capability development, and execution across systems engineering, integration, verification, and test activities. They chair major design and test reviews, shape program test strategies, support proposals and estimates, and drive improvements in cost, cycle time, quality, and technical performance. The position also develops Section Leads and department personnel through coaching, performance management, hiring, career planning, and organizational change. Success requires strong collaboration with program offices, engineering domains, chief technologists, supply chain, finance, industry, and academia. It suits an experienced engineering executive or functional leader with extensive defense systems experience, strong judgment, and a record of managing complex programs and technical teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent experience, with at least 14 years of relevant experience; or advanced degree with 12 yearsSystems engineering, integration, test, and verification experienceTechnical and functional leadership experience managing direct reports or multiple programsActive DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required before startingExperience with hiring, staffing, performance management, and talent developmentStrong communication, decision-making, collaboration, and organizational change skills
