Sr Principal Systems Engineer - Onsite

This engineer will work within Raytheon’s Operations and Mission Analysis organization, helping evaluate new technologies and mission concepts across complex defense systems. Responsibilities include analyzing mission and hardware feasibility, building performance and simulation tools, optimizing trajectories, processing large datasets, and creating system visualizations with tools such as STK. The role also contributes to mission-planning software development, technology maturation, intellectual property efforts, and business capture activities. It suits an experienced systems engineer with deep expertise in areas such as guidance and navigation, orbital mechanics, mission analysis, satellite systems, or multidisciplinary design. The position requires onsite work in Tucson and an active Top Secret clearance held by a U.S. citizen before starting.

Requirements

Minimum 10 years relevant experience with STEM degree; advanced degree preferredDeep expertise in one domain: guidance/navigation/control, orbital mechanics, mission planning, mission analysis, satellite technology, or system-of-systems designProficiency in Python, MATLAB, and/or C++ with Windows and Linux experienceActive, transferable Top Secret security clearance required before start; U.S. citizenship requiredExperience with mission performance analysis, CONOPS, algorithms, modeling/simulation, or similar technical areasFamiliarity with Git version control and grid computing infrastructure preferred; STK experience valuable
