Explosives Safety & Operations Engineer

This engineer will work with the Explosives Safety & Operations Manager to develop and maintain safety programs supporting production and engineering operations. Responsibilities include reviewing facility designs and hazard analyses, conducting inspections, supporting customer and government safety surveys, and applying applicable defense, OSHA, environmental, and fire-protection standards. The position also investigates incidents, identifies root causes, tracks corrective actions, and helps sustain broader EH&S initiatives and audit readiness. Success requires the ability to communicate technical safety requirements effectively across engineering, operations, technicians, management, and external stakeholders. It is suited to an experienced explosives safety or EH&S professional with defense-sector experience who can work onsite in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Requirements

University degree or equivalent experience with 5+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 3+ years in EH&S or explosives safetyAt least 5 years of experience with DoD or defense-contractor explosives safety policiesU.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearanceActive Secret clearance preferredExperience preparing explosives safety plans, hazard analyses, and risk assessmentsStrong communication, presentation, audit, investigation, and corrective-action skills
