Principal Software Security Engineer - S3E

This engineer will help design, implement, integrate, and verify security-focused software running on embedded missile computing platforms. The position sits within Raytheon’s Software Security Sensors and Effectors organization and requires balancing system protection measures with real-time performance and broader missile-system objectives. Responsibilities include applying security principles at the application and source-code levels, working with embedded operating systems and processors, and coordinating requirements and technical reviews with systems security engineers and customers. The role is well suited to an experienced embedded software professional who has worked on security-sensitive or defense systems and can operate across detailed implementation and system-level concerns. Candidates should be comfortable in collaborative Agile or DevSecOps environments and able to support programs requiring a U.S. government security clearance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in STEM field plus minimum 8 years of relevant software engineering experienceProficiency in C/C++ and experience with embedded processors like Xilinx UltaScale+ or VersalHands-on experience with embedded operating systems such as VxWorks or Embedded LinuxDemonstrated expertise in embedded software security implementationActive or ability to obtain interim Secret level DoD security clearance; U.S. citizenship requiredUnderstanding of real-time software design and performance optimization in security contexts
