Senior Electrical Systems Engineer, Batteries

This role positions you as the primary technical authority for all battery systems across Axon's body-worn cameras, automotive platforms, and fixed outdoor devices. You'll drive battery technology decisions from early evaluation through high-volume production, including supplier qualification, design reviews, and reliability testing. The role sits within the Devices Hardware Engineering team and requires balancing competing demands around safety, performance, energy density, and regulatory requirements across multiple product lines. This position suits experienced battery engineers who thrive on cross-functional collaboration, enjoy ownership of complex subsystems, and want to apply their expertise to products that directly impact public safety and justice.

Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical, Systems, or Chemical Engineering6-9 years of battery systems or power systems engineering experience with high-performance mobile devicesHands-on battery pack development experience from concept through manufacturing, including cell selection and supplier qualificationDeep knowledge of Li-ion, LiPo, LiFePO4 chemistries and regulatory standards (UN 38.3, IEC 62133, UL 2054, UL 1642)Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical analysis and manage supplier relationships through productionExperience with NPI cycles, Ongoing Reliability Testing, and battery characterization for secondary cells
