Senior Electrical Systems Engineer, Batteries

This engineer will own battery strategy and technical direction for body-worn, automotive, and fixed outdoor devices within Axon’s hardware organization. They will define subsystem requirements, evaluate cell technologies, guide pack and battery-management-system designs, and lead integration with electrical, mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and test teams. The position also manages supplier selection and development, qualification activities, reliability testing, failure analysis, and regulatory certification. Success requires translating battery industry developments into product roadmaps while maintaining visibility across Axon’s deployed battery portfolio. It suits an experienced battery or systems engineer who has taken constrained, battery-powered products from concept through mass production and can make rigorous technical decisions across multiple stakeholders.

Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical, Systems, or Chemical Engineering6-9 years of battery systems or power systems engineering experience with high-performance mobile devicesHands-on battery pack development experience from concept through manufacturing, including cell selection and supplier qualificationDeep knowledge of Li-ion, LiPo, LiFePO4 chemistries and regulatory standards (UN 38.3, IEC 62133, UL 2054, UL 1642)Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical analysis and manage supplier relationships through productionExperience with NPI cycles, Ongoing Reliability Testing, and battery characterization for secondary cells
