Technical Staff Device Modeling and Measurement Engineer

This position sits within Microchip’s Corporate Device Modeling and Technology Characterization Group, supporting new technology development through electrical measurements and device-model creation. The engineer will study devices such as MOSFETs, BJTs, diodes, and capacitors, then develop models that accurately reproduce their behavior in HSPICE and Spectre simulations. Responsibilities also include designing test structures, automating measurement and code-generation activities, documenting methods, troubleshooting modeling issues, and mentoring less-experienced engineers. The role is suited to an experienced semiconductor professional with strong device-physics knowledge, measurement expertise, and familiarity with modeling, layout, PDK, and programming tools. It is a non-manager position with normal business-hours work performed indoors and limited travel.

Requirements

Master's degree and 15+ years of experience in device modeling or semiconductor characterizationProficiency with Cadence layout tools, PDKs, and simulation software such as Hspice and SpectreHands-on experience measuring semiconductor devices including MOSFETs, BJTs, diodes, and capacitors using standard equipmentProgramming skills in Python, Perl, Java, or LabVIEW for test automation and code generationStrong understanding of fundamental device physics and semiconductor behaviorExcellent communication and mentoring abilities
