Senior Engineer II - Development Hardware

This position focuses on translating hardware designs into production-ready PCB layouts using tools such as Altium or Siemens Xpedition. The engineer will address signal and power integrity, thermal performance, EMI/EMC, safety, RoHS, testability, and manufacturability throughout the design process. Responsibilities also include maintaining board documentation, creating and managing component library data, preparing manufacturing outputs, and coordinating with external fabrication and assembly suppliers. The role supports Microchip’s development hardware organization and requires an experienced PCB layout professional who can independently analyze technical information and solve complex design issues. It is well suited to an electrical engineer with substantial layout experience, strong communication skills, and familiarity with mechanical CAD and hardware quality processes.

Requirements

B.S. in Electrical Engineering7.5 years of professional PCB layout experienceExperience with high-speed, mixed-signal, and power PCB designKnowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal analysisProficiency with Altium, Siemens Xpedition, or equivalent EDA toolsFamiliarity with mechanical CAD and strong analytical skills
