Principal Mechanical Engineer - Thermal Engineer

This engineer will work within Raytheon’s Mechanical Analysis and Test organization, supporting thermal design robustness from early concepts through qualification and fielded-system support. Responsibilities include analytical calculations, detailed modeling, test planning, test execution support, data reduction, and correlation of thermal models using methods ranging from hand calculations to finite element tools. The position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, participation in technical reviews, documentation of results, and communication with internal, customer, and government stakeholders. At a senior level, the engineer may lead thermal analysts or test teams and help improve departmental processes and tools. It suits an experienced thermal engineer who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute effectively in a security-cleared aerospace and defense environment.

Requirements

STEM degree and typically 8+ years of relevant experienceThermal analysis experience using FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA, ANSYS, or equivalentKnowledge of thermodynamics and classical and finite-element thermal analysisExperience planning, conducting, analyzing, and correlating thermal testsDemonstrated leadership of thermal analysts or major program effortsU.S. citizenship and ability to obtain an active, transferable DoD Secret clearance
