Staff Wireless Software Engineer

This Staff Wireless Software Engineer position is a hands-on technical leadership role at Axon responsible for architecting and implementing wireless protocol stacks and real-time communication systems used by first responders worldwide. The engineer will work across multiple wireless technologies (LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mesh networks) to solve complex performance challenges around latency, reliability, and power consumption in field-deployed systems. The role requires both deep systems software expertise and RF understanding, collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, and modem vendor teams to ensure end-to-end performance. This position suits experienced wireless engineers who have worked on mission-critical or real-time systems and want to have architectural influence on products that directly impact public safety operations at scale.

Requirements

10+ years in wireless software development with strong C/C++ embedded systems experienceDeep knowledge of wireless protocols (LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mesh, or sidelink)Experience with modem vendors (Qualcomm, MediaTek) and real-time low-latency audio systemsStrong networking fundamentals and ability to debug packet-level and radio-layer issuesFamiliarity with RF performance constraints and mission-critical communications preferredExperience with 3GPP standards, secure communications, and Linux/Android platforms preferred
