Staff Wireless Software Engineer

This hands-on technical leadership position focuses on wireless protocol stacks, transport layers, modem integration, and real-time push-to-talk and voice systems across multiple radio technologies. The engineer will optimize latency, reliability, handoffs, congestion, and power use while partnering closely with RF, hardware, firmware, and cloud-connected software teams. They will also establish performance metrics, support secure communications, contribute to carrier certification, and guide technical direction without direct reports. The role is part of Axon’s mission-critical communications function and is suited to an experienced systems engineer who can bridge radio behavior with embedded and networking software. It is based from selected U.S. hubs under a hybrid schedule.

Requirements

10+ years in wireless software development with strong C/C++ embedded systems experienceDeep knowledge of wireless protocols (LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mesh, or sidelink)Experience with modem vendors (Qualcomm, MediaTek) and real-time low-latency audio systemsStrong networking fundamentals and ability to debug packet-level and radio-layer issuesFamiliarity with RF performance constraints and mission-critical communications preferredExperience with 3GPP standards, secure communications, and Linux/Android platforms preferred
