Staff Mechanical Engineer, Communications​ Hardware (Remote Eligible | Relocation Assistance Available)

This engineer will serve as a founding mechanical contributor for Axon 911 hardware, taking products from early concepts through high-volume manufacturing. The work involves creating durable, sealed, thermally managed devices that incorporate electronics, batteries, antennas, and wearable or portable form factors. The role partners with industrial design, electrical, RF, product, operations, vendors, and manufacturers to resolve competing requirements and prepare products for production. Responsibilities include prototyping, tolerance analysis, FEA, environmental and durability testing, design reviews, and support through EVT, DVT, PVT, certification, and manufacturing ramp. It suits a highly experienced mechanical product leader with a background in rugged connected devices, strong manufacturing expertise, and the ability to guide other engineers while communicating technical decisions clearly.

Requirements

12+ years of mechanical product design experience, preferably with ruggedized or compact electronic products5+ years of technical leadership directing teams of at least three mechanical engineersBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceExpertise with Creo or comparable 3D CAD, DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, FEA, prototyping, and physical validationExperience integrating PCBs, batteries, antennas, RF shielding, thermal solutions, and compact wearable hardwareWillingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 15% or more
